>Embrace Your Space: Invigorate your STYLE

First up… a confession! I really like entertaining and hosting, but sometimes I grow weary of throwing parties at my home.  Don’t get me wrong, I love my home – it’s all quaint and intimate (designer speak for small J) which is fine, but it really puts my design skills and creativity to the to the test. Sometimes it’s a challenge to re-create the space so that my guests are WOWED each time.  Honestly they are probably not thinking about it, but it’s always on my mind.  Before I started my business, my husband would joke and say “you like the planning more than the party, don’t you?” Well that is not all correct, although I do really enjoy the creative aspect, most importantly I enjoy the company of family and friends.
So, these days I busy am conjuring up ideas for a potential Valentine’s Day, date night.   I have a layout in my mind, and my perfect party (aka my wish list) sketched.  However, to be honest, I usually don’t make a “big deal” out of Valentine’s Day, but because I will celebrate my 10th year of marriage this December, I think I am gonna celebrate ALL YEAR LONG J! So we will see…
While, I make up my mind, you can start thinking about what you’re going to celebrate next!  Here are a few tips for sprucing up your space for entertaining, whether it’s LARGE or small!
Believe it or not, there is no hard and fast rule that parties have to be THEMED! Sure it’s easier to build your decorative elements that way, but first you should EMBRACE your space! 1) use your home’s assets!  Look around at what you are already working with.  Consider repurposing or repositioning furniture and/or decorative elements in your home. You can also 2) go out and find ONE uber fabulous décor item to add, like a vase or sexy bowl, and build around that.  3) Beef up your serveware!  There are great items {generally moderately priced, or even on sale or clearance } at Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, CB2 and TJ Maxx.  Sometimes I even find great serving pieces at my local grocery store.  Lastly, 4) add POPS of COLOR! You can do this by creating or buying (if its not your thing)  a fresh or artificial floral arrangement {I am a sucker for fresh flowers}.
You can do one or ALL of these things to spice up your space, be FREE to show your CREATIVITY!  Here’s a little visual inspiration for you!
